KEYNOTE: The Rise of Experiential IoT: What it Means for the Hospitality Industry's Future and its Role in the MetaVerse
9:00 AM - 9:50 AM
9:00 AM
9:50 AM

Almost five years ago at CES 2017, Carnival Corporation unveiled the OceanMedallion wearable device as the linchpin of its guest experience transformation. The same technology that was used to simplify and personalize the guest experience on MedallionClass ships from Princess Cruises has served as the centerpiece for the brand’s return to service after a 16-month pause in operations.

In this compelling keynote, attendees will hear from John Padgett, President, Princess Cruises. Padgett will discuss how his team accelerated the MedallionClass roll out in the face of global pandemic; why “contactless” and “touchless” innovations originally designed to make life on board more enjoyable, have taken on greater significance; and how the smartest ships at sea offer an intriguing glimpse into the Metaverse.

Cryptocurrency & Hospitality: The Future Is Now
11:20 AM - 11:55 PM
11:20 AM

For years, cryptocurrencies have been met with skepticism. How could a digital currency created by a company replace America’s gold standard? But the rise of Bitcoin, Ethereum and other major players in this space indicate that the American people are ready for and interested in this digital currency. So, what does that mean for the hospitality industry? From enhancing payment security and loyalty programs to improving the speed and ease of transactions, there are a significant number of reasons why hoteliers may want to consider this blockchain-based currency.

As if the California Consumer Privacy Act was not sufficient, California has added the California Privacy Rights Act, which provides new requirements and regulations related to data privacy. Colorado and Virginia also passed their own data privacy laws in 2021, and we can certainly expect more state data privacy laws to follow in 2022. In the midst of all the new state data privacy laws, you might ask what the federal government is doing about data privacy. We will answer that as well. This session is intended to provide hoteliers with a roadmap for data privacy compliance in 2022 and beyond.

Consumers of the past viewed cable TV, daily housekeeping and on-demand room service to be the ultimate guestroom experience. But that’s no longer the case. Now hotels are finding they need to offer more tech-specific guestroom amenities to ensure their guests leave the property happy. Luckily, these technologies can also reduce operating costs (lights and faucets that automatically turn off) or generate more revenue (spa reservations via a bedside iPad). Join us during this breakout session as we talk with Brennan Gildersleeve, VP, Property Technology for Sage Hospitality Group, about his experience in creating a variety of unique guestroom experiences during his time at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Equinox Hotels, and now Sage Hospitality Group.
